Classic FM's Hall of Fame 2005/2006
Stuart's composition
Seven
Wonders Suite for Orchestra has been voted the number 2 highest new
entry into the Classic FM 'Hall of Fame'. Karl Jenkins Requiem was #1.
This is such a great honour and vindication as Seven Wonders has only been
released for a short time now and to be voted by the listeners is an even
greater compliment.
Classic FM's new CD 'Relaxing Classic FM'
Classic Fm's latest compilation release includes Stuart's composition The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus from
Seven Wonders Suite for Orchestra.
The track is
included on Disc 3 along with composers such as Haydn, Holst and Rachmaninov. This is a
wonderful compliment to Stuart's music and he is so proud to have this piece
in particular heard by so many people.
Stuart composed
The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus over 18 years ago when he was just 22 years old. It is also his father's favourite piece of music
and he is equally pleased that it is finding
its way into the world. The music
portrays the last moments of King Mausolus's life with a flute transcending
his past thoughts and memories, while the violins (entering the temple two by
two) become the congregation paying their last respects. A bass drum brings
his heart-beat to a peaceful and majestic close.
